Let's get started.

Welcome back to the Deep Dive. Today, we are going to be tackling a subject that's really popular, but I think often misunderstood the law of attraction. We will be using excerpts from Ask and It Is Giving by Esther and Jerry Hicks to unpack how Abraham's teachings on this can really help you create a better life.

We're going to be going beyond the usual attracts, like basics that you hear all the time.

Yeah, what's fascinating about this book, I think, is that it doesn't just tell you to think positive thoughts and just kind of like leaves you hanging.

Right.

It gives you a framework for understanding why that's important.

Yeah.

And then it offers really specific processes to actually make it happen. So, it's like it's a very practical guide. Yeah.

Not just like a feel-good philosophy.

Exactly. So, for anyone unfamiliar, who is this Abraham that we keep hearing about?

Well, Abraham is described as a group consciousness of non-physical beings and they are channeled by Esther Hicks. So, it's kind of like a conduit for universal wisdom, if you will. Sort of reminding us that we're all extensions of this powerful source energy.

Okay. So, it's not like some mystical figure sitting on a mountaintop. Yeah.

Rather a voice channeling through Esther. Yeah. But even if you're skeptical of the whole channeling thing, which I'll admit I was too, the core ideas in this book are incredibly powerful.

Yeah. Like the concept of vibrational reality.

Oh, yeah.

Which I found just totally mind-blowing.

Yeah. It's the idea that everything is vibrating at a certain frequency, including us.

Right.

And our emotions are like indicators on a dashboard that tell us if we're in alignment with source energy and what we want to attract. So positive emotions, you're on track.

Right.

Negative emotions mean you're out of alignment.

So, it's kind of like a radio, right?

Yeah. Yeah.

If you want to listen to a specific station, you need to tune your dial to the right frequency.

Exactly.

So same with the log attraction. We need to adjust our vibrational dial to match the frequency of our desires.

Exactly. And the question is, how do we do that?

Yeah. Right.

And Ask and It Is Given really goes deep into that, providing a toolbox of techniques to help us identify and shift our vibration. And that's, I think, what makes this book so valuable. It's not just theory.

Yeah.

It's incredibly practical.

Right. And before we dive into those techniques, I do think it's worth mentioning Esther's story.

Oh, yeah. For sure.

Because she starts off in the book terrified of anything non-physical. She talks about her upbringing and how that shaped her.

Yeah. And her initial skepticism, I think, makes her transformation all the more powerful.

Yeah.

You really feel her journey from that fear to understanding, which I think resonates with a lot of people who might have their own doubts about this.

Absolutely. And her husband, Jerry, is a constant source of encouragement. From the very beginning, he immediately recognizes the depth of these messages.

Yeah.

And it highlights the fact that we all come to this with different starting points.

Yeah. There's no one right way to understand these concepts. Right.

It's about finding what resonates with you and applying it in a way that makes sense for you.

Yeah, absolutely. So, speaking of applying it, let's get into the meat of this deep dive.

Yeah.

These practical techniques from the book. One that stood out to me was the rampage of appreciation.

Oh, yeah.

Which is-

It's more than just thinking positive thoughts. It's about really deliberately shifting your focus away from what's missing and immersing yourself in what you already appreciate. And the idea is that the more you practice this, the higher your vibration becomes, and the more good you attract into your experience.

It's almost like flooding your system with positivity.

Yeah. Yeah.

Right. But what about when you want to manifest something specific? I mean, that's where techniques like the magical creation box come in.

Oh, yeah. This technique adds a tangible element to visualization. So, you use a physical box to represent your desire, and then you fill it with items that sepalize what you want to attract.

Interesting.

So, it's like building a mini-universe that embodies your intention, and it acts as a constant reminder of your goal.

Right. And the book emphasizes that the universe doesn't distinguish between the vibration you emit when you're responding to something you're physically experiencing and the vibration that you offer in response to what you're imagining.

Yeah. That's powerful.

Right.

So, if you can vividly imagine yourself, I don't know, living in your dream house, you're sending out the same vibrational signal as if you're already living there.

And it's not just about like houses or material things.

Right.

It's about cultivating the feeling of already having what you want, whether it's, you know, a fulfilling relationship or a successful career, you know, even a healthy body.

For sure, for sure. And another technique for achieving this is what Abraham calls virtual reality. And this is where you deliberately immerse yourself in these positive imagined scenarios related to your desires.

Okay.

So, you create a mental movie, complete with sights and sounds and emotions. Yeah. And the more vivid and detailed that scene is, the more powerful that vibrational signal is that you're sending out.

So, it's like creating like a powerful vision board, but in your mind.

Yeah, exactly. Exactly.

And then there's the prosperity game, which involves playing with the concept of abundance, even if your current bank account doesn't reflect it.

Yeah, this is a great one. Particularly, I think, for those who struggle with limiting beliefs around money.

Oh, yeah, for sure.

And the process involves writing imaginary checks for things you want and really focusing on the feeling of joy and freedom that comes with having that financial abundance.

You know, I've actually tried this one. And it's surprisingly effective. You really do start to embody that feeling of being financially secure.

And as you do that, like you really do feel your vibration kind of start to shift. And then you become more magnetic to those opportunities that align with that.

Exactly. It all ties back to the idea that the universe responds to our vibrational frequency, not our current circumstances.

So, while, you know, we're all pretty familiar with the idea of, you know, thoughts create reality, this book really goes much deeper.

Way deeper.

Offering very practical tools and processes to actually change those thoughts and therefore your reality.

Exactly. Ask and It Is Given isn't just a philosophy. It's really a guidebook for becoming a conscious creator.

Yes.

But to do that, we need to understand something crucial about our emotions. They are our guides.

Right. That whole concept of emotional guidance. It's not just about feeling good all the time, but it's more about recognizing that each emotion is like a message.

Precisely. Yeah. Positive emotions mean you're aligned with source energy and you're moving towards your desires.

Negative emotions are signals that you are out of alignment. You're resisting the natural flow.

It's about becoming aware of your emotional state and using that information to course correct.

Exactly. The book offers a fascinating way to visualize this through something they call the emotional scale. It's like imagine a ladder with the most negative emotions at the bottom and the most positive ones at the top.

Like fear, grief, despair, those are at the bottom.

Yeah, those create a lot of resistance.

A lot of resistance. As you climb the ladder, you have things like anger, frustration, discouragement. Still negative.

Yeah.

But with a slightly higher vibration. And then at the very top, you have, you know, joy, love, appreciation, empowerment, the emotions that allow source energy to flow freely.

A powerful image.

It is.

Right. And the goal isn't to, you know, deny or suppress the negative emotions, but rather to use them as feedback.

Yeah.

If you're feeling frustrated, ask yourself, what's causing this resistance? What thought or belief is keeping me stuck on this rung of a ladder?

That's it. Yeah.

And then you can start using, you know, some of the processes in the book to deliberately shift your thinking.

Exactly.

And climb higher.

And, you know, even a small shift can make a huge difference. Yeah. It's like taking a step back from a painting.

When you're too close, you only see the individual brushstrokes, right? Right. But when you step back, you see the entire masterpiece.

I love that analogy.

Yeah.

So, but by shifting our emotional state, even slightly, we're essentially stepping back and seeing the bigger picture.

That's it.

And it allows us to make choices that are more aligned with our, you know, with our true desires.

Absolutely. And it all comes back to recognizing that we are not helpless victims. We have the power to choose our thoughts and therefore our emotions and ultimately our reality.

This is all incredibly empowering, but I'm curious about the practicalities. Like, how do we actually go about making these shifts, especially when those negative emotions feel like really strong?

Well, that's, I mean, that's where the book really shines.

Right.

It dives deep into these specific techniques that you can start using immediately. Yeah. Change your vibration.

And that's what we'll be exploring in the next part of our deep dive.

Yes. Stay tuned because we're going to unpack some of the most powerful techniques from Ask and It Is Given that you can use to start creating a life that truly reflects your desires.

Yeah.

Okay. So, we've laid the groundwork, right? Our thoughts and emotions create our reality.

And we can use this emotional scale to kind of gauge whether we're on track or not.

Yeah.

But now let's get into some of those practical techniques from the book that can actually help us shift that vibration and actually manifest what we want.

And remember, it's not about manipulating the universe. It's about aligning ourselves with that natural flow of well-being. And that brings us to one of the I think most powerful processes in the book, which is what they call the debt-free game.

Oh yeah. This one's particularly helpful for anyone who is feeling weighed down by financial stress, which let's be honest is a lot of us these days. But how can a game actually help with something as serious as debt?

Well, it's all about shifting your perspective, right? Imagine this, you create a visual representation of your debt, like I don't know, maybe it's a chart or a graph. And every time you make a payment; you get to mark off a chunk.

Okay.

So, you're visually seeing your progress.

Oh, interesting.

Towards becoming debt-free.

So, it's not just about like paying bills, it's about actually turning it into a game and making it feel less overwhelming.

Exactly. The book talks about how even the act of coloring in a section of that chart or moving, you know, a marker closer to your goal can trigger a sense of accomplishment.

Right.

And it reinforces the belief that, hey, you know, this is attainable.

It's almost like tricking your mind into feeling the emotion of being debt-free, which, you know, according to the law of attraction, is crucial for actually achieving it in reality.

That's it. And as you play this debt-free game, your vibration starts to shift. Yeah.

Right. Instead of feeling trapped by lack, you start to embody the energy of abundance and possibility.

Which, again, makes you more magnetic to those opportunities that support that new financial reality.

Exactly. Exactly. It all ties back to the idea that the universe responds to our vibrational frequency, not our current circumstances.

So, speaking of vibrational frequency, Ask and It Is Given talks a lot about aligning with, you know, what they call our inner guidance system.

Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's a big one.

Well, what is that exactly?

Well, it's the idea that, you know, we all have this this innate compass within us, and our emotions are like the needle on that compass. They're either pointing us towards what we desire or away from it.

So again, it's not about, like, ignoring those negative emotions, but rather seeing them as valuable feedback.

Absolutely. Yeah. If you're feeling frustrated, ask yourself, what's causing this resistance?

What thought or belief is throwing me off course here? And once you identify the source of the resistance, then you can start to consciously shift your thinking.

And the book offers a bunch of techniques to help us do just that, like moving up the emotional scale, which we talked about a little bit earlier.

Yes. Yes. Love this one.

Remind me how that works.

So, this process is all about consciously choosing thoughts that elevate your emotional state step by step. Yeah. It's about deliberately climbing higher, even if it's just one rung at a time.

Right.

Like even small incremental shifts in our thinking can really make a big difference over time.

Absolutely. Yeah. The book offers a really practical exercise to help you do this.

It's called Which Thought Feels Better. You start by identifying your current emotion, and then you brainstorm a list of thoughts that are related to that situation.

So, let's say, for example, you're feeling anxious about an upcoming presentation.

Right.

You might write down all the thoughts that are kind of swirling around in your head, like, what if I mess up, or what if people don't like it?

Exactly. Exactly. And then you simply go through each thought, and you ask yourself, which thought feels better?

So, you might start with, this presentation is going to be a disaster. And then you shift to, okay, well, I'm a little nervous, but I've prepared well.

So, it's kind of like those choose your own adventure books. Choosing the path that leads you to a more positive emotional state.

Yeah. And as you do this, your vibration starts to shift.

Right.

And you become more magnetic to outcomes that are in alignment with that new higher frequency.

It's incredibly empowering, I think, to realize that we have this power within us to actually change our emotional state and therefore our reality.

Absolutely.

Yeah.

And the more you practice this, the easier it becomes. It's like training a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets.

Okay. So, we've talked about techniques for shifting our vibration kind of on a more general level. But what about when we have a very specific desire that we want to manifest?

Well, Ask and It Is Given has techniques for that too. One of my favorites is called scripting, where you essentially write out your desired reality as if it's already happening.

So, it's almost like writing a screenplay for your life.

Yeah, exactly, exactly. So, imagine you want to attract, I don't know, your dream job. You would write in detail about what your day looks like in that job, how you feel, what you're accomplishing, what your office looks like, you know, whatever it is that's important to you.

And the key is to write it in the present tense as if it's already your reality.

I remember the book mentions that Esther used this technique to manifest her desire for a very specific type of car.

Oh, yeah, yeah.

And she wrote in detail about driving the car, feeling the leather seats, even like smelling the new car smell, hearing the sound of the engine.

And guess what? A few months later, she gets that exact car right down to the details she had scripted.

Wow. So, by scripting, you're essentially programming your subconscious mind to believe that your desire is already yours, which then sends out that powerful vibrational signal to the universe. Yeah.

And here's the really cool part, I think. The book suggests that as you're scripting, you're actually creating a vibrational template that the universe can then use to orchestrate the manifestation of your desire.

Wow. That's powerful.

It's like planting a seed. You provide the intention, the energy, and then you allow the universe to do its part in bringing that seed to fruition.

I want to touch on the segment intending process.

Oh yeah. I love this one.

Which is basically about setting intentions for very specific periods of time. It's almost like breaking your day into smaller manageable segments.

Yeah. It's a fantastic way to stay focused and aligned with your goals throughout the day. So, you might set an intention for your morning commute or for a work meeting or for a workout or even for a simple phone call.

It's about proactively shaping your experience rather than just reacting to whatever comes your way.

Absolutely. Yeah. You're taking control of your energy and you're directing it towards creating the reality that you desire one segment at a time.

And then there's the wouldn't it be nice if process, which I find incredibly helpful when I'm dealing with things that I have a lot of resistance around.

Yeah. It's such a gentle yet powerful approach. Instead of forcefully demanding what you want, you soften your approach by asking, wouldn't it be nice if?

So, for example, instead of saying like I want to lose weight, you might say, wouldn't it be nice if I felt healthy and energized in my body?

Exactly. And by framing it in this way, you release the resistance and you open yourself up to receiving without that pressure of having to force it to happen.

And it feels so much more aligned with allowing the universe to support you.

Yeah. It's about collaborating with the universe, not trying to dictate or control the outcome.

So, okay, we've covered quite a few processes now. And each one of them offers, I think, a really unique approach to manifesting our desires. But what happens when we find ourselves spiralling into negative thinking?

Is there a way to quickly shift our focus?

Absolutely. That's where the pivoting technique comes in.

Okay. Tell me about pivoting. This one's essential, especially for those of us who tend to get caught up in those negative thought patterns.

Well, it's all about becoming aware of when you're heading down that negative spiral and then consciously choosing to redirect your thoughts. It's like hitting the brakes on a runaway train and steering it back on track.

So, if you find yourself dwelling on a past mistake or worrying about a future event, you can use this technique to really shift your attention to something that's more empowering.

Absolutely. Yeah. You might ask yourself, what's something I can appreciate about this situation or what's something I can learn from this experience?

So, it's about choosing to focus on the solutions rather than getting stuck in the problem.

Precisely. Yeah. The book gives a really good example of this.

Esther describes a time when she was feeling really frustrated with her daughter. Instead of getting caught up in that anger and resentment, she deliberately chose to pivot her thoughts towards a more positive outcome.

So instead of dwelling on the problem, she asked herself, well, what do I want instead? Then she focused her energy on creating that.

Exactly. Yeah. By doing that, by shifting her perspective, she was able to release that negative emotion and move towards a more harmonious resolution.

Ask and It Is Given is just filled with so many practical examples like this.

It is, yeah.

Which really helped to make these concepts relatable and applicable to everyday life.

Yeah, absolutely. And that's what makes this book so valuable. It's not just about understanding the law of attraction in theory, it's about actually using it.

Create a life that truly reflects your desires. Okay.

I'm ready to hear about more of these life-changing techniques. So, tell me more. So, we've covered so many powerful techniques from Ask and It Is Given.

You know, ways to shift our vibration, visualize our goals, and even, like, you know, reframe those challenging situations. But I'm wondering, what's the missing piece here? You know, we've set the intention, we're working on our vibration, but how do we actually let those desires manifest in our physical reality?

That's where the concept of allowing comes in. And it's arguably the most crucial, yeah, but often the most difficult aspect of the law of attraction.

Yeah, I can see how that might be tricky, you know. We're so used to, like, striving, pushing, trying to make things happen. Right.

Surrendering control almost feels like counterintuitive.

It is a real shift in mindset. And Abraham uses this, I think, brilliant analogy to explain this. They compare us to corks bobbing on the surface of the water.

And, you know, our natural state is to float effortlessly. But when we hold on to resistant thoughts, it's like we're pushing that cork underwater.

So, our own thoughts and beliefs are, like, the weight that keeps us from rising to the surface and experiencing that full flow of well-being.

Exactly. Allowing is about releasing that resistance. It's letting go of the cork and allowing it to naturally rise back up.

It's trusting that, you know, the universe has your back. Things are unfolding in perfect timing.

That makes a lot of sense. But how do we know if we're like truly allowing versus like just passively hoping for things to change?

That's a good question. It's subtle, but there's a distinct difference in feeling. Okay.

You know, when you're forcing, you feel tension, doubt, a sense of urgency, allowing feels like ease, trust, kind of a quiet confidence that, you know what, what you desire is already on its way.

So, it's not about like giving up on your goals. It's about releasing the need to control every little detail.

That's it. And that's where all those processes we've discussed come into play, right? They're not just about attracting specific things.

They're about cultivating that overall feeling of alignment and allowing.

So as our vibration rises and we release that resistance, things start to flow more effortlessly. We experience more synchronicities, opportunities kind of appear out of thin air. And our desires manifest in ways that we might never have even imagined.

It's like the universe is saying, okay, I see that you've cleared the path. Now, let me work my magic.

Yeah, I love that. It really highlights that we're not alone in this process of creation.

No, not at all.

We have a powerful partner working with us.

We do. And Ask and It Is Given really constantly reinforces the importance of trusting that partner, of surrendering to the wisdom of the universe. And knowing that everything is unfolding for our highest good, even if we don't understand how or why in the moment.

This whole concept of allowing really is a game changer.

It is.

You know, it's about recognizing that we're not just in control, we're in like co-creation with something much bigger than ourselves.

And that brings us back to, I think, the central message of Ask and It Is Given, which is this profound power of personal empowerment.

Right.

You know, we are the creators of our reality. We have the ability to choose our thoughts, our emotions, and ultimately our experiences.

It's both exciting and challenging.

It is.

Exciting because it means we're not at the mercy of fate, but challenging because it requires us to really take responsibility for our internal state, even when it's not where we want it to be.

Oh, absolutely. It's so much easier to blame external circumstances for our unhappiness than it is to really look within and acknowledge the role that our own thoughts and beliefs are playing.

But that's where the true transformation happens.

Yeah. When we recognize that we have the power to choose a different thought, a different feeling, and therefore a different reality.

So, as we wrap up this deep dive into the law of attraction and the teachings of Abraham, I want to leave you with this. If you truly believed you could manifest anything you desire, what would you create in your life? What would your reality look like if you embrace the full power of your creative potential?

Let that question simmer. Allow yourself to dream big, without limitations. The universe is listening, and the power to create the life you desire is within you.

We hope you're leaving with fresh insights and a spark of inspiration. Remember to subscribe, leave a review, and check back for more episodes as we dive into new worlds of thought, one book at a time. Until then, keep your mind set in stone and your curiosity open.
